International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures – United Nations
The United Nations Assembly encourages Member States to consider initiatives that identify areas for practical action at all levels of society to promote inter-religious and intercultural dialogue, tolerance, understanding and cooperation. It also encourages the promotion of dialogue among the media from all cultures and civilizations.

Established in 1977 by the United Nations, this special day provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress made to advance women's equality rights and status. |

Known for converting “pagan” Ireland of the 5th century to Christianity. |

Spring Equinox; welcoming of spring and the goddess-as-maiden. Dependant upon the specific timing of the equinox. |

International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination – United Nations
On March 21, in 1960, police opened fire and killed 69 people at a peaceful demonstration in Sharpeville, South Africa, against the apartheid "pass laws". The day was proclaimed in 1966. |

New Year; observance of spring equinox symbolizing spiritual growth and renewal. |

Hindu celebration of the birth of Lord Rama, hero of the religious epic poem, The Ramayana; temples are decorated; the Ramayana is recited for ten days. |
